Lloyd Cox is from Marietta, Oklahoma. He did not grow up with a cutting horse background. He came to appreciate the sport in high school and decided to become a cutting horse trainer. He posted his first EquiStat check in 1985. He was inducted into the NCHA Rider Hall of Fame in 2000.
